T-Splines academic lab packs

Over the past week, top design schools in France, Japan, Germany, Italy, and the US have installed T-Splines academic lab packs for their students.

If you are a university instructor, did you know that you can put T-Splines for Rhino on every computer in an entire classroom (up to 30 seats) for a one-time fee of only $999 (no maintenance, upgrades extra)?

T-Splines is used by students to quickly create complex forms for architecture, jewelry, and consumer product design. Because T-Splines models are watertight by default, they are suitable for CFD analysis and manufacturing.

Contact us to buy an academic lab license and secure training materials today.

Bonus: Here's an Intro to T-Splines handout that Dave Schulze, instructor at the Otis College of Art and Design, uses for his students and recently shared with the T-Splines community.

Thomas Parel's CAD monkey

I was checking Thomas Parel's industrial design blog to see what he is up to these days, and came across a fun, older post: his CAD monkey, modeled in Silo then brought into CAD as usable T-Splines surfaces.

We've had some people ask lately how to make human and animal forms in T-Splines. With T-Splines v2, this is now much easier with our symmetry, advanced manipulator, and box modeling tools. If you're interested in making these types of designs in NURBS-compatible T-spline surfaces, check out this tutorial about how to make a dolphin.

Tutorial: Modeling a freeform heart ring with T-Splines

Watch this new, carefully annotated, silent tutorial video showing how to model a freeform heart ring with T-Splines for Rhino.

In designs such as this, using T-Splines to enhance your Rhino toolset gives you a malleable surface that stays together without gaps as you create your model. Exploring design variants is easy by pushing and pulling on any part of the T-spline surface.

Reminder: Basics of T-Splines webinar on Thurs, Feb 4

In the past, creating truly free-form products in CAD has required that you first purchase software that costs $10,000-20,000 -- or more.

T-Splines for Rhino offers an affordable solution for creating high-quality, organic surfaces for manufacturing.

Learn the basics of T-Splines in this free webinar at 12 PM EST (GMT-05:00) on February 4, 2010.

Space is limited. Register now.

In this webinar, we'll take a look at the very basics of how to use simple T-Splines commands to create freeform, organic shapes -- which can be passed as watertight IGES files to any CAD package.

Presenters: Kyle Houchens (owner of The Outside Digital Art and Design and T-Splines user), and Matt Sederberg (T-Splines co-founder).

This is the perfect webinar to watch if you're trying the T-Splines 30-day trial, or if you're just wondering how 3D software for organic design actually works. The webinar will be paced so that you will walk away with knowledge about how to actually use the product. Plus, we will give you the opportunity to ask questions.

This is a must-see if you want to increase your skill set for creating more freeform, organic designs for manufacturing in 2010.
